Best beginner or Cherry brown mechanical keyboard going at the moment?

Hope this is the right place to post a mechanical keyboard thread? as there's no dedicated peripherals category in the Hardware forum.

    hello all.

Any recommendations, I've read that the cherry brown keyboards are a safe bet for beginners, and as their quieter they'd be more suitable for a bit of late night gaming.
I'm not looking for the best NO 1# mechanical keyboard going, just a safe bet that can take a bit of a beating, at around the £100 mark give or take.

    Thanks for reading

For £100 you get a fair amount of choice really.

The SteelSeries keyboards are quite good I've heard, they're built like bricks and have the UK layout. But they only come with black keycaps, and I've heard the keycaps wear away easily. It'll cost you about £70.

CoolerMaster do 4 different ones; the Quickfire Rapid, the Rapid Stealth, the Rapid TK and the Rapid Pro. They're quite good and come in a variety of Cherry types. I personally have the TK with Browns, which has a white backlight that looks cool. Only problem with these is the look; the font they use for the keycaps is pretty bad, but then this isn't a problem for the stealth. These go for around £75, apart from the pro which is about £90.

Corsair also does one for around £90.

Really it all comes down to your style preferences. Seeing as though you're into night gaming, the Quickfire Rapid TK might be a good choice though as it's backlit. It's the cheapest backlit mechanical keyboard I know, and is still built really well.

After £100 you get into the keyboards that are style rather than substance in my opinion, like the Happy Hacker series and such - they look quite cool.

Looks like a cool board, but the OP asked for mechanical keyboards.

Like the SteelSeries 6GV2, though I can't link it yet

There's the Razer Blackwidow for £125 (bit more than you intended to spend but has some cool features like customizable backlighting)

As iticu is said, I'm after a mechanical keyboard, but have to admit thats one sexy little monkey, I'd smack that

    complements of iticu:
CoolerMaster the Quickfire Rapid, Rapid Stealth, the Rapid TK and the Rapid Pro.
So much choice, need to do more research.
