I think you can pick up a Iiyama 15" for close to £200 - not checked recently but I'd recommend their monitors regardless of price
For roughly 20 pounds more than the total ( 200 quid ) you have set you could have a nice IIyama built E-yama 17" TFT that has a refresh rate of 14 ms which also has a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024.

According to the specs it has a 16ms response and will do upto 1024x768 ...... leaves you a bit of change for a couple of beers as well ;)
