    SB75G2 Problems

I have recently bought a SB75G2 shuttle and i have got all my parts in it and yesterday i started it up and it worked fine but for some reason it keeps hanging for no reason some times it will be during the windows install and other times it will hang before i even get to boot the cd, i have no idea what this could be i have tried installing windows onto the same hard disk using the same cd-rom drive on another machine and it works fine.

Iam new to all this SFF so maybe i havent set something up properly. (I have checked the hetsink and that is sitting fine)

If someone could lend a hand i would be more than greatfull.

    Current Hardware In The Shuttle

    Ram: 2x 256mb DDR 3200
    Cpu: 2.8c Pentium 4
Hdd: 120gb Samsung Spinpoint Sata Drive
    Gfx: Radeon 9800se

    Thankyou

Have you tried the ram in the other machine to make sure its OK?

I would download a copy of memtest & run that to confirm your memory is OK

I've been suffereing from problems with my new shuttle, does your machine hang with the hdd led lit? I had this a few times I reset the cmos a few times and left it unplugged from the wall for 10secs and it seemed to fix it.

Is that a prescott cpu? You will have some problems with sp2 on that if you are using winxp, post here if you are planning on using this combo and I will post the link to the fix to save you some frustration

I have switched the Ram out and put in my sata drive now the shuttle booted the win setup and got me to the part where it says that there is no harddisks found (cos i aint got a sata driver disk yet ) twice and i left it sitting for 5mins or so and it seemed fine.

Iam not running a prescott chip due to the high level of heat they give off, but iam using win xp sp2.

I had a Prescott in my SB75G2, sold it on flea bay then used the money for a Northwood core chip of the same clock speed. Seems better, and my room isn't like an oven anymore!
