    Wireless Routers...

    Hey

Right i want to get a wireless router but aint to sure which one to go for i know to go for the 108.11G for the fastest speeds. I have been looking at this one

    http://www.netgear.co.uk/html/prod_r...ss_wgt634u.htm

Which is £104.58 from OCUK seems ok but can i get a better router for the money?

    Cheers

Usually I would stick up for netgear stuff, but my new DG834G is an unrelaible piece of doggy poo! Have a look around for other makes as well, if I were you. Netgear stuff is often more expensive that other brands.

    DLink G604T 54g

I've used one for the last few months and it's top notch. Never dropped a connection once and its solid a the proverbial.

btw that link is to the router + PCMCIA card bundle, as for some reason that is £20 cheaper than buying the router by itself

np although checking that link again, the pictured item is the DI624?? there seems to be some confusion in the reviews too. That could be why its cheaper.

here is the link to the definate article

Whoops did not realize it was a ADSL router i ideally wanted just a normal router to play lan games and share files. I have Cable so this one would be useless.

I've been using a Linksys 11g wireless router for over a year now.

I haven't had to reset it once so far and its a total breeze to set up.

Its not really 108, its some sort of 2x54 really, trying to fool it that it is making 2 connections. It is not all that effective as it relys on very compatible hardware and a good signal. However it does work, sometimes!

Another vote for the Linksys WRT54g

Solid solid kit. And there are a variety of 3rd party firmwares that really open up the functionality even further.

I would recommend getting the same brand as your wireless card if the features all look the same.

I've got the Belkin combined 802.11g router and ADSL modem... it's been great, great speeds, excellent signal strength... and it's only £67.99 at the moment from Simply Computers... haven't checked the price of the same unit without the modem but it's gonna be cheaper
