Buying a win8 touchscreen laptop worth it?
Hi it's been a while since I asked a question, thought I drop on this on you all
I do bit of photoshop work for the place I work and I have a decaying c2q pc and the time has come for me to get a new pc/notebook to call for my own..and these issues keep me from going back and forth in making a good choice.
There are laptops with win8 plus touchscreen and I did a simple search and found them to be powered by low clocked new CPUs ,are they a real replacement for a person like me? Can you do productive and heavy work on them and doubling as a workstation and a tablet for non productive things like streaming videos and playing a game or two..I'm torn between getting a gaming laptop and these hybrid tablet laptops...or is the tablet experience on nexus7 or on a iPad better for recreational activities. And being a cheaper alternative
In brief should I buy a hybrid laptop or a real laptop for work:p
Re: Buying a win8 touchscreen laptop worth it?
Me personally I would say unless you can detach the screen from the keyboard or at least flip it right round so its like an ipad/surface etc then I would say don't bother.

Well when I went out and got a laptop recently I did wonder about touchscreens, but all of the ones I found with touchscreens had less powerful CPU/GPUs and less memory - so I went with a machine with the best CPU and a dedicated GPU. Can't say that I have ever once wished I had a touchscreen as well.

I'd agree - most laptops with touchscreens only have GT 745M (much more expensive than non touchscreens... :哎呀: @.@ gay) or so GPU's or HD 4500/4000.
Many have underclocked CPU's as well, just to improve battery life.
But then, the 1920*1080 is still darn expensive... 1440*900 seems to be cheaper for no apparent reason..
Depends on you, but non touch screens are way better and have GTX 750M+ for a lower price.
So, as some specialists say - buy a simple laptop (cheap) and build/buy a desktop.. but if you want mobility and power, check on notebookreview + xoticpc/amazon...
For tablets, wait for the next quarter, LPDDR3 (low power) 3GB will come out, lowering the gap between mobile devices and laptops. :D [but it is Samgsung... as for now]

Depends on you, but if you want to do editing, then the touchscreen laptops are too underpowered for you.
They are underclocked and many do not have a dedicated GPU...
