Oh not another one! Seems to be a spate of this at the moment for some unlucky people

Could be a number of things - drivers, rogue software, unclean power supply, over-ambitious overclock... or just a buggy game.

I'll go and try and find the drivers for my GPU and Mobo and update them, I'll also check to see if I can update my BIOS too.

I tried to clean my PSU but I had trouble opening it up properly (also had a nightmare trying to find screws I lost on the floor!). The PSU still has some dust inside which could be causing it.

I ran a Malwarebytes scan yesterday and it only picked up one dodgy file, but I haven't been able to check whether or not that could of been the cause. I'm going to run an AVG scan too when I get back from work.

I don't have the system overclocked at the moment, not really worth it on a AMD Phenom II X4 850 I don't think.

Its getting a little frustrating as I play ranked games on LoL and if it freezes, the computer will restart but the monitor will not come back on. It seems like its stuck in sleep mode?

I've checked my power settings and it was on balanced, changed it to high performance and its still the same. Would it be worth trying power saver or is it not worth it?

I'm gonna buy a can of compressed air and try to give it a good ol' squeaky clean!

Not worth trying power saver IMHO. If the video card isn't providing a signal to the monitor after a restart then graphics drivers could be the issue, or your card might be on the way out.

Don't get too obsessed about dust - if your temps are fine then it's unlikely dust was the issue.

Hmm, I have in the last month had random freezing on my pc, mines a i5-2500k with a Samsung 840 256GB SSD, Geforce 560Ti. I am running Windows 8, have had an awful lot of the graphics driver has crashed issues in the last month and mouse freezing.

Very odd, I am sure its Microsofts fault lol

No, that's nVidia's fault. Their drivers have been shocking lately. I'm running fairly old drivers on our nVidia system and it's more stable.

Curious, I'm having a similar problem on an ASUS/AMD motherboard where if the computer goes to sleep it won't recognise the PCIe graphics card when it wakes up: happens with two different cards too. I'm currently blaming the PSU (which is good quality but ancient ), and assuming from your specs that your PSU is a Colours IT one, I'd be inclined to blame your PSU too - I imagine it was about a tenner? Even if the current problem isn't caused by the PSU I'd definitely recommend replacing it to ensure the longevity of your PC...

Roll back to nvidia's 314 drivers. Thwy where the last fully stable release for me with my 560ti & win8.

Not sure how much it was when I bought it, got a pre-built system from computerplanet a few years back. I am in the process of looking for a new machine but I need to make sure I've got enough in the bank before making any purchases.

Going to run some more scans and do some driver upgrades tonight and see what the outcome is
