Also, (should have asked this 1st time around) does it work on the Bartons? If so, same or different bridges as they don't look much the same when comparing a Tbred and a Barton?

Who's going to flog me a Dually board now then I wonder?

    CHeers,

yeah it does work on bartons, and its probably the last L5 bridge the same as the tbreds. Although the bartons use a default 166FSb as appose to 133 of other chips and the only affordable Mp boards use 133FSB as standard, so to get the bartons to there potential you need to hard code the multis for a high multiplier....

Nice thing about he Barton XP 2500 is, as its a 11 multiplier chip all the L3 bridges are closed, meaning its easy to pick your chosen multiplier.

Just connect 5 Volts across the bridges you wish to blow

I'm looking into converting a pair of XP2500 for my Dual atm.

    Hey Mr Meltdown

I just had a go at modding a couple of XP2500, much to my alarm I found out there are two different styles of bridges now, the old style I don't have a problem with, but the new style are so small I can hardly see them

I have one modded at default 14 multiplier (My dual will do 166FSB) and will be hopefully getting another old style one soon.

So if your going to have a go, look for old style XP2500.

I'm not sure Bartons work on a MP board - what board are you using?

The certainly don't work on a Tyan board - highest it will take is a XP2400

Because all above 2400 are 166fsb chips, with a little modding you can use Bartons on Tyan boards 17 x 133 is the norm for good chips

And XP 2500 do work in Dual boards with the L5 closed

    Thumbs up

Note. The bridges are now under the surface, which means having to scrape at the green coating until they emerge, for L5 and L3 modding.

From reading 2cpu.com, they are the bridges (I think) but they are now under the surface, when you look at a "new" one in the flesh and at the L3 Bridges, its very hard to see them and looks harder to touch the brides with needles to "Blow them"

I may have a go tomorrow anyway

EDIT, now you have me thinking it maybe the Yellow arrow that's the points to blow

The yellow arrow is pointing to the Bridges

These new chips are MUCH more difficult to L5/L3 Mod, I am not saying its not possible, but after scraping off the top layer, its so hard to see what you are doing.

I guess that's the whole point, people were selling counterfeit AMD chips a while back and maybe its AMD's response.

So does that mean this mobile Xp 2400+ 512KB cache 2Ghz 266FSB CPU is already SMP enabled then by default?

This is a XP 2500 (Picture courtesy of PMM)

So it looks like AMD have not burned the last L5 bridge on your Mobile XP 2400, so it maybe fine
