If you go to www.crucial.com/uk and use the excellent memory selector to choose your mobo you can see what ram is tested and garunteed compatible.

I never woried about compatability, however I probaly should... :p But I dont think intel setups are as fussy....
I've never personally had a problem with memory not being compatible, hell I normally use Nanya stuff anyway
In my previous lfe running marketing for a major system builder, we constantly sent out systems for review + sold thousands a month to end users
On the production line, memory problems were very rare because the various BIOSes, driver etc were all pretty mature and flexibility was 'built in'
However, when creating review systems using components that had never been seen before, our R&D team had a special cupboard full of paired memory modules
Not paired by the company shipping them - but paired on the results of in-house testing
We made sure that the first production runs on a new system stuck with the memory that had been used in reviews...
...until the 'flexibility' arrived a few weeks/months later !
