I use rubbing alcohol...
well, ok but will white spirit work?
Just that its about all i have
Should be fine, as long as you don't get it everywhere. I use lighter fuel personally.

Works fine for me
thanks guys, turns out that i didn't need to use anything!
I think it was actually paste rather than a pad and it just wipped off with a tissue.
The Arctic Cooler seems to be working a treat!

No idea whether any of this stuff is pure alcohol or not but anything that isnt leaves a residue which insulates.
No, the type of petrol you use in a Zippo (or similar) lighter. About £1.50 from most newsagents or supermarket fag counters. I got my can out of a bin, FWIW. I've since found a good Zippo, but I gave up smoking in January.Originally Posted by |SilentDeath|

I use methylated spirits... I guess anything is ok so long as it doesn't cause any damage
I did notice that Maplin Electronics sell a bottle of cleaner in their computer section just for this purpose... didn't look what it contained but thought you might be interested
Or a scoot of WD40 and some kitchen towel. Smells nice too.

I found some Surgical Spirit under my kitchen sink, nearest thing I could find to rubbing alcohol!
nail varnish removal wipes in the little box. Used these since I borrowed the missus nail varnish removal and spilt the whole bottle over the floor.
