The chap in the video says $250 though!
Looks rather nice, shame about the integrated battery and glossy screen so.
Why would they bother putting USB 2.0 ports on these? Surely it can't save them any money in making the computer!?
Most devices don't need USB3, and AFAIK USB3 controllers consume more power, so possibly the SOC is limited to one or two USB3 ports to save power and lower the TDP? Plus USB2 ports have less conductors, so it probably does cost less to put USB2 ports on a low-price laptop. tbh, for the price they're targetting it at I'm surprised they've gone for a USB3 at all, let alone full size HDMI and VGA - that's some pretty good spec for an entry-level device.
Now, where's my tablet version...![]()
Another machine that is slower than my now rather old E350 11.6" machine![]()
Is a dual core kabini really slower than an E350? Hmmm, doing some clock comparisons on single threaded stuff on Anand's bench, it looks like 1GHz kabini CPU core would be about 10% slower than 1.6GHz Brazos 1.
Given that the graphics portion is much improved (and the TDP is far lower), is that really a bad pay off?
