    Angry No Hard Drives Detected

Hey guys I’ve built my new comp and I’m getting these errors when I boot up, No Hard drives Detected (even though theirs two 76GB Raptors in there and hooked up) and a CPU fan error, and the cpu fan seems to be spinning around nicely any ideas……….

Have you loaded the SATA drivers so the Raptors will be detected?. And is it a big hsf?, some big (80mm+) fans don't spin fast enough to be registered by the mobo...try plugging it into a chassis fan header and stick a little 60mm fan onto the CPU header...

As jon_bda said, make sure you have mashed the F3 (iirc) key before windows loads up the installer and make sure your SATA drivers are on floppy and you have a working floppy drive plugged in!

When you stick the windows CD in, as it loads just mash the F3 key and plug in your floppy, it should detect it and away you go

    Simple

They should be on the driver cd for your mobo, but your prolly better off getting the latest from the manufacturers website. They will need to be put on floppy to load up...only reason i have a floppy in my PC...

Leave the jumpers as they are set mate, SATA drives don't have master and slave settings...

One other thing, if you have any IDE hard drives installed, pull the cables out before you try installing Windows on a SATA drive, if not it buggers up the drive letters...

ok during the OS installation when the system prompts me to press F6 to install the third party SCSI or Raid Drivers. I put in the floppy disc with the raid drivers on them then followed the on screen instructions and press enter when it asks me to, so it can complete the installation, in the bottom corner it says please wait then just comes back to the screen where it asked me to press enter.

Did this I couple of times and even made up another driver disc but still the same happens, so I thought it must of done it and just not said. But when I go to continue with installing windows says it cant detect any the hard drives…… so I have no idea starting to think I should give up and get an expert to do it for me
