My cpu does not seem to show up running at the correct speeds in certain programs, if the speed is wrong it displays 1004Mhz. i was wondering why this is.

Need a bios flash? correct bios settings? which motherboard do you have?
More input needed :)
I have the latest bios. The mobo is a Msi K8N Neo Platinum, fitted with 2x512mb ocz pc3200 ddr.
what are the fsb x multiplier settings? or is it recognised as a 3400?
Its all set to auto mate running at 200mhz fsb i believe.Quote:

try checking using windows, by right clicking on my computer and at the general tab it should say the athlon 64 2200mhz or 2400mhz depending on the model you have.
Do you have Cool 'n Quiet enabled? Could that be causing it?
Rich :¬)
I do have cool n quiet enabled I will try turning it off.
In my computer and system the cpu is detected correctly.
Wedge, its not detecting the HyperTransport Bus speed at all?....
TiG
I do not know if it is detecting hyper transport how do i find out?
Pretty sure Cool 'n Quiet is the culprit; it drops the multi to 5 when the proc isn't heavily loaded (5x200 being 1GHz, obviously). Apparently it can be a bit hard to persuade it to get back up to speed....
Rich :¬)
Well I hope it is the culprit mate as that might explain my poor 3dmark2k5 score of only 4048, worse than my barton 2500.
Yeah, it could easily be. I'm sure I read reports a few months ago about how people were getting anomalous benchmark results because C&Q was cutting their processor speed in half.

How do I know if this is working mate.Quote:

wedge it is the cool and quite feature , go into the bios and into Cell menu and disable cool'n'quiet .
I disabled it and I still only managed a score of 4589 which is only a 100 points better than my overclocked barton 2500.
