Enable SPDIF On Shuttle SN95G5

Hi i am having real problems trying to get SPDIF output i think its mainly down to windows

I have the Shuttle connected to AMP with Digital Lead and have installed the Sound drivers from shuttles site (also tried the nforce package from Nvidia) i have installed the sound utility but theres no where in there to select SPDIF
so when i goto speaker setup i have nothing out the speakers when it sends a noise to the digital output (i still get windows sounds and sounds when i play music etc) but no Digital output

Any ideas?

I have just installed a DVD Player on the system (and selected SPDIF Out in the software) and played a DVD and the AMP detects a dolby digital system so that shows everything in terms of cable and AMP is ok for some reason windows is not using the SPDIF output and i cant see anywhere to select it
