Will my trusty old tube of artic silver 1 be ok for my new amd 64 3400?

Won't do it any harm, but I would say for the best "result" som AS5 would have been nice
TBH the differences between different gunks are marginal at best. (Although paste > pad in virtually all cases, due to layer thickness)

The advantage of the Arctic Silver pastes is that they don't dry out, crack and fail as heat transfer media.
Just make sure you use a very thin, even layer and you'll be fine.
Ace news as I could not be arsed to spend £6 on a new tube when my other one is barely used.
