Cool Thoughts on this lappy (4501LMI)

    Product Overview

    Product Specs

'Tis (as the thread title suggests) the 4501LMi, with Radeon Mobile 9700 graphics.

Looks like a nice lappy. Graphics are OK, CPU power is... well it's centrino, but it's got reasonable battery life and ample for what I'll be using it for most of the time. I've found it for just a tad over £850. Sound good?

    Cheers,
    Kez.

    Hey there Ryan,

That actually looks like a decent machine - how much is it? Doesn't look that 'ugly' either.

That keyboard looks horrible. And I'd imagine you could get an Athlon powered one for cheaper?

I dont think its the keyboard thats small, the laptops just bleedin massive!

Its a bit ugly looking, oh and dont be fooled by only having a Pentium M - a 1Ghz Pentium M is faster than a 2Ghz P4!!!!

I'm ordering the Acer Aspire 1681LCI for £764.50 from here:

    https://sslrelay.com/s77548008.onean...ex3.shopscript

As far as I can tell the only major difference between this and the TravelMate 4501LMI is XP Home rather than Professional, but its quite a bit cheaper. Its the cheapest Centrino lappy that I've found with half-decent graphics. Only 1024x768 resolution though, and I agree with the comment above, it is a bit ugly.

Where did you find the 4501LMI for £850 Kez?

Well, I changed my mind at the last minute and bought a Dell!

Brand new Inspiron 1000 with 2.2ghz celeron, 256mb, 30gb HDD, combo DVD/CD-RW, integrated graphics, 14.1" screen, all-in price £391 including delivery (I can get the VAT back). I just couldn't pass up on this offer, which ends in 1 hour 40 minutes! Totally useless for any gaming, but perfect for all the other stuff I need it for.
