    PC Upgrade

Hi guys, i want to upgrade some of the components at my PC and I want your opinions and/or suggestion for the other parts.
This upgrade will cost ~350 €

Parts to be upgraded : MOBO, RAM, CPU.

Because I don't remember the previous components(and I'm at home ) I will show you the new stuff I want to put on my pc.

    MOBO - Gigabyte Z77M-D3H = 90€
    RAM - CORSAIR XMS3 8GB (2x4) = 80€
    CPU -Intel Core i5-3470 3.20GHz, 6MB cache, Quad-Core, Socket 1155 = 170€

    A total of 340€ .

What do you think and what do you suggest?

Do you need the Z77 board? The processor you chose is not unlocked so unless you need multiple PCI-E lanes for graphics cards and have many devices that require 6GB/s SATA connections you could get away with a cheaper board or different chipset (H77, B75, Z68 (if you want some extra goodies).

First of all, thanks for your reply.

Well, I have 3 HDD's and I want to get an SSD too.

    What do you suggest?

    Re: PC Upgrade

Depends what features you need really. Well because you've got an SSD doubt you'll be using RAID?

HDDs rarely saturate 3GB/s so SATA II bandwidth for HDDs isn't an issue.

Also depends if you are thinking about graphics cards? If you are it comes down to if you are going to be using multiple graphics cards.
Do you have any devices that require the older PCI lane? Some Z77 boards come with them but not many.
Will you be using SSD caching at all?

Comes down to how much money you want to cough up and the likelihood of using RAID and an unlocked processor in the future really.

    Re: PC Upgrade

For graphics I have Gigabyte GTX 650 1Gb OC.
I don't think that I'm going to use multiple graphics cards.
No I'm not going to use RAID, no I don't have any devices that require older PCI lanes.
About SSD caching, I think so, cause I use a lot of programs because of my University.

When it comes to money, price range can be from 300 to 400 euros.

How much is the latest Haswell chips near you? May be worth looking into the I5-4570, over here it's a similar price to the I5-3470 but yields better performance.

Also 1150 socket motherboards are widely available and quite well priced so you're sure to find something. Plus 1150 is somewhat replacing 1155 so may give that upgrade option in years to come.

    Re: PC Upgrade

Well 4570 is 8€ more than 3470 so not a problem about that.
I'm going to search for a 1150 mobo as well and compare them.
Thanks for your time Mikeo01 .
