    Best way of freeview on my pc

    I'm wanting to get the freeview digi channels on my pc but what would be the best way to do it.
    A.Buy a dvb digital pci/usb card to use in/with my pc OR
    B.Buy a freeview digi-box and connect that up.
    Signal is not a problem as I have a strong reception area.
    cheers

    I personally use a Hauppauge DEC-2000T set-top box which has USB and Scart connections so I can watch it on TV and record to PC.

    Not the cheapest option - but it is great quality and easy to setup none of the less

    Thats why I was thinking of a set-top box as I could just bang it on a telly in my room if i wanted.So I don't have to use it on the pc if I need not.

    I've got a Hauppauge nova-t, any think its really a decent piece of kit (not too expensive either £60 iirc). However it is rather limited, and a set top box, expecially one that can take cards would be a better option imo as with a pci card there is no way to get any pay for channels (top-up tv etc.) or watch anything on tv without having the pc on.

    Its a nice little piece of kit - abeit it does need a reboot every now and again, and I mean once in a blue moon when the signal tends to die usually at 3am when drunk and listening to Radio 1 via the box.

    The box when in USB mode is great and the interface is quite good as well - which can be seen here ;

    Recording Quality is great and with the Showshifter software ( http://www.showshifter.com/ ) you can pause live TV, visit the toilet or sort the kids out and then resume where you left off.

    Pricewise its about 70 quid from various places, but the price is worth it if you think you can record directly to the PC and then put your favourite shows on DVD later on.

    Must go - Little Britain starts in 30 mins and I cannot find the antenna extension again!!

    I tried showshifter earlier this year and found it ugly and horrible.
    You can record and pause live tv with the Hauppauge software that is included, its free, recording quality is excellent and its alot less ugly than showshifter .... sorry for being slightly OT, but I just hate showshifter.
