My system will not turn on and it has been acting strangely. When I powered down it would turn itself back on after a few minutes like it was in a hibernation mode. I could not make it fully power up though. Now my wife informs me that it will not turn on at all, I am worried.

Nothing happens when I try and turn it on, not a thing. Is the psu dead? I cannot test it as I do not have another.

I discovered that she had turned off the psu too on its switch, when i switch it on it just runs the hdd, cpu fan and the system fan but does not post all or beep, whats going on?

Try clearing the BIOS, that might help.
Also, take out the RAM from the computer - if it doesn't beep at you when you try to boot up with no RAM, it's probably the motherboard that's the problem.
You could also try taking everything but CPU, RAM and graphics out, and see if that works. You can then put everything else back in bit by bit to see what the problem is.

I had the exact same problem with the PSU on my 'Work' computer listed below. I was using a cheap Mercury 300w unit. Replaced it with a half-decent Aopen 400w PSU and now all is well.
