Question How much to sell old custom PC for?

Hi guys, so i have a custom built pc that i want to sell as i've just got a new one, but im not quite sure how much i should sell it for. The specs of it are as follows:

    CPU: Intel i7 2600K
    RAM: 16GB 4x4gb (corsair XMS)
    HARD DRIVE: 1TB HITACHI 0F10383
    CASE: Antec 902 v3
    DVD DRIVE: SH-S222AB/BEBE 22x
    GPU: 1GB EVGA GTX560 SC PCI-E
    MOTHER BOARD: MSI Z68A-G45-B3
    PSU: 620W ANTEC NEOECO MODULAR
    CPU COOLER: CM V6 GT
OPERATING SYSTEM: Win 8 Pro 64-bit

Was approx £900 when purchased in Oct 2011, so its around 2yrs old. Obviously i don't want to rip anyone off or rip myself off, i'm just trying to find a fair price to sell it for?

    Cheers guys.

    I'd guess something like £300-400.

Re: How much to sell old custom PC for?

I would see if you can find a similarly specced PC on ebay to see how much that is selling for, then add a percentage premium as yours is custom built, I think that would make more sense than trying to undercut the similar spec. Or simply put it on eBay and let the buyer decide what he thinks a reasonable price is for the rig by bidding for it.

Closer to £400, maybe even more. Demon is right, look up similar machines on eBay (even ones they sold in the past) and set your price based on them.

Put OC to your CPU and put it on ebay auction starting £400, you might be lucky and get 600-700 quid.

unfortunately this could also deter buyers due to stability or wear/tear concerns.

True, but some people just want a reliable computer that'll last.

Re: How much to sell old custom PC for?

I'd say don't overclock it prior to selling. It may indicate to buyers that it's been run hard for a while. I have a feeling people who really care will want to do any OC themselves, and I certainly wouldn't trust any OC that isn't my own.

I'd draw the analogy with cars; if I see a car on Autotrader which has been modified, I avoid them like the plague. You don't know what some coyboy has done to it.

Why would you sell the system? You'll get more for parts, and assuming you're replacing it you'll never get as much for things like the psu case etc as you would pay to replace them

Re: How much to sell old custom PC for?

You could have easily have transferred some components over to the new build (unless you've gone to a laptop or something)

I would be guessing £4-500 as bits.

Re: How much to sell old custom PC for?

I'd agree with most of the other people here, about 400-500.
And I think you should of kept some of the parts like the case and HDD etc. to add to the new build instead of buying new ones and selling off the old. But I guess that's too late at this point.

Re: How much to sell old custom PC for?

I would suggest selling it as bits, I have sold various bits on ebay and some of the go for way more than I would expect, graphics cards and memory especially can go for high prices considering the age so before selling do a quick ebay check on the components individually. Its also easier to ship
