What is faster?

After reading the benchmarks about the new AMD 64bit FX against the standard AMD 64bit and also the Intel P4 CPU’s. I wondering, does anybody know if the AMD FX is faster then the Apple G5 64bit?? As that would be a great test to do, head 2 head, Pc vie Apple-Mac.

Performance comparisons do exist but it's understandable not a popular comparison to make especially on review sites that serve up gaming benchmarks. It's just not mainstream like the P4/A64 comparisons and there is less software with which to do a direct comparison.

I'm sure the AMD Althon64's are faster, although it's hard to compare the two. The other think Apples are good for is graphics IMO, but I'm sure there's some people around that disagree

emmm, off the top of my head I think Apple 64bit cpus are way faster still, but as said before they cant really compare when looking at gaming due to how each PC is set-up and designed.

Here is a comparision against a 3ghz P4. If that can beat the G5 in most of the tests then I'm sure the Althon FX-55 would walk all over it.

not anymore they arent. I remember someone (sorry i forgot who) who explained that in the good old days (10+ years ago) Macs were a lot better for graphics, and the reason they are still used now is simply due to the fact that people never changed.

That and the fact that all these graphics types are shallow people and having a colourful monitor on your desk looks better even though its twice the price and half the power of a pc
