New Build - Help to replace noisy old GPU

I put together my new PC over the weekend which has naturally led to many questions, the most pressing of which is which graphics card to get.

I have an Obsidian 350D case, Asus Z87M-PLUS, i7-4770k and I am using the Hydro H60 CPU Cooler. At the moment I have two chassis fans running in the case (although there are five installed but the motherboard only has enough headers for two!) and it runs nice and quiet.

The problem is that I'm also using a Sapphire HD4850 graphics card with a very loud fan (I think it is a Zalman fan), picture below.

I pulled the graphics card from my old build knowing that it was the loudest part but didn't realise it would be so annoyingly loud now.

Would appreciate any suggestions for a new graphics card.

I mostly play fairly old games (think Company of Heroes, CS, etc.) but I would like to try to new SimCity 2013.

It's also essential that the card can run a 1920x1200 24" monitor (like this one:http://www.scan.co.uk/products/24-de...s-4xusb-hub-ro) and be able to play movies on my flat screen TV in 1080p over an HDMI connection with sound.

    Also the quieter the better.

I've got a fairly flexible budget for the right card.

    Appreciate your suggestions.

Also I have a 750W Corsair PSU - in case this is a constraint on what card I could get.

    The loud mouth:

That PSU is unlikely to be a constraint. For best noise I'd avoid the high end cards, which tend to push the thermal boundaries in the name of performance, so go for a nice pitcairn based AMD card (eg R9 270X, or 7850/7870) or kelplar based nVidia card (eg gtx 760).

    Some picks:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/489317-xfx-hd-...i-fx-787a-cdfc (AMD 7870 2gb, £135 + free games)

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-m...gddr5-gpu-1033 (nVidia 660 2gb, £145)

I would avoid XFX for now, the Double D is possibly the worst cooler currently out there in terms for noise/cooling, in some cases even worse than reference. (They do look pretty though...)

I think the newer gpus have technology in them to turn off the fans when not in use and to also let them gradually get faster instead of suddenly getting faster and creating the noise.

I used several XFX cards this year (a 7850 and a couple of 7770s).Never had a problem and temperatures been low even after overclocking.

    +1

I had a xfx 6850 and it was so noisy when gaming I ended up putting a arctic accelero l2 plus on it and it cooled about the same but was inaudible.

The XFX HD 7870 is cheaper at Scan btw HERE

I would recommend MSI graphics cards that don't utilize the stock ATi/NVIDIA stock cooler.
MSI's coolers are always well made and silent. With high-end cards, you also have the MSI Afterburner software, you can use this to set up a temperature profile such as :
    Upto 30C, keep fan at 10%, 30-50C - keep fan at 50%, 60C-HIGHER, ramp fan to 100%.

So, when gaming your temp will increase and thus the fan will then run faster to cool things.

I'd go for a sapphire card, my last card was sapphire and it was absolutely silent.
