As mentioned on an earlier post, I put together my new computer over the weekend. I have an Obsidian 350D case, Asus Z87M-PLUS, i7-4770k and I am using the Hydro H60 CPU Cooler.
At the moment I have two chassis fans running in the case:
i) 120mm attached to the radiator for the H60 blowing air out of the case
ii) 120mm attached to the roof of the case blowing air out
I've installed another three fans:
2x 140mm in the front of the case, positioned to draw air in
1x 120mm also attached to the roof
I didn't realise when I bought the motherboard that it only had headers for three fans (one header is taken up by the pump for the H60 CPU Cooler).
I'm assuming the only way to run all my fans is with some sort of fan controller (e.g. http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-...an-controllers)
I haven't really pushed the CPU so far, but at the moment I have a CPU temp of ~30-35C while typing this and the fans are spinning at 800-900 RPM and very quiet. I ran Prime95 for about 20 minutes and the temperature peaked at 45ish (although the fans did speed up a bit at this point).
The question I have is whether I need so many fans or the two I have installed are sufficient? In terms of noisiness is it better to have lots of fans spinning slowly or a few spinning quickly?
If I do decide to run all the fans, does anyone have a favourite fan controller? The Corsair Link Commander http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsa...vel-of-control looks neat because it let's you control the fan speed with software but it's also quite expensive. Does anyone have any good / bad experiences with this?
Thanks in advance
