    Desperately trying to unlock a 2400+

    Here's the situtation:

    I have an Athlon XP 2400+, which is a T-Bred B I believe (WCPUID says Model 8). The board I'm using is an MSI K7N2 which doesn't allow me to change the multiplier in the BIOS. I just bought some 400 DDR memory so I can raise my FSB from 133 to 200 and manually change the multiplier to 10x. Sounds like a good plan, heh?!

    The problem:
    NOTHING WORKED!!! I tried many things to unlock my CPU and everytime I thought I had it and raised the multiplier, my machine wouldn't boot up. I tried 3 times the conductive pencil trick on the L3 #5 bridge trick. I also tried two times the wire-mod trick on my mobo's socket. I finally tried the wire trick directly on the CPU....

    Absolutely nothing could unlock my CPU. ARGHH!!!!!

    Insight:
    - Strangely, my CPU's color is green unlike every picture I see on the Internet where it's orange.
    - If you're wondering if I'm using proper cool or voltage, don't worry. Volcano 11+ and tried to raise the core voltage many times.
    - I also have the latest BIOS version available.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

    What's the stepping and week code on the chip? It's on the second line on the label, maybe something like AIUHB 0309, KIXIB 0335 or AQUCA 0345. Anyway, chips packaged after 0339 are locked; you can't unlock them so that the multi can be adjusted in the bios, nor can you pinmod them. If you join the third L5 bridge you turn the chip into a mobile, which allows you to adjust the multiplier from within your OS using a program.

    Edit: a model 8 2400 is indeed a Tbred-B, so the stepping code won't start with AQ. Sorry, didn't spot that.

    So the joining the third L5 bridge won't work?

    If the chip is locked, then no, modding the L3s will not work. You can connect the third L5 (NOT the 5th L3, note) and that will turn the chip into an XP mobile. You can then use a software overclocking program to adjust the multi in Windows.

    For some reason, it didn't work.... I might give it a shot, for the forth time.

    Don't think that trick works on nForce iirc.

    Well, I thought I could unlock it (like described here: http://www.viperlair.com/articles/ho...ck/index.shtml) and change the multiplier through BIOS.

    If it's superlocked don't think that will work.

    I found out it was indeed superlocked. :O(

    The only way I could modify it would be to play on L5 bridges and turn it into a Mobile or MP processor. Even but doing so, my problem would remain: my MSI K7N2 doesn't support them.
