    AMD + PCI-Express?

as you chappies and chappettes may well know i should be building an athlon 64 pc in the coming fortnight. ownage.

but what worries is me, is when are the pci-express athlon 64 boards meant to be out? i dont want to go spend a load of hard earned cash on a pc, for it to suddenly become outdated, or at least, less advanced...

is there a pci-express version of the nvidia 6800gt?

    cheers

From what i can find it appears that all major brands and models of gfx cards are now available in PCIe.

With AMD PCIe boards being out before xmas, i would imagine that jan/feb will be the time to buy. This way any niggles will be ironed out and prices will have dropped. Thats my plan anyway.

A good plan it is too. PC prices always drop after Christmas as far as I can tell (as do most things, but PCs especially).

I would say that waiting for nForce 4 is a good idea, since it has PCI Express. As you say, after Christmas is a decent time to buy and not exactly that long to wait.

PCI Express is useless right now and by the time it will mean something you'll need another board anyway. Also the first implementations of ANYTHING are usually the worst. Things always get improvements with time.

It's a non-issue my friend. GO FOR IT!!!
