Quick question - built a pal a computer a few years ago (using help from these forums at the time, many thanks!).
Computer has now gone explode. PSU and drives appear to be fine (have done paper clip test). Other than that, the thing seems to be dead and I have no real way to test these slightly ageing parts.
The spec of the deceased:
Mobo: MSI 740GTM-P25
CPU: Athlon II x2 250 (Regor)
Mem: DDR2, 4GB, 1066Mhz
GPU: ATI HD 4770
PSU :Be Quiet 350W Pure Power PSU (still working)
The machine did everything my friend wanted (including still playing most of the latest games at good settings on 1680).
What would be the absolute cheapest mobo/cpu/mem/gpu combination that I could drop into their tower case for them, and that would give the same performance as this (now rather modest) specification?
Many many thanks for any ideas.
Jes =)
