    Barton 2800+ OC

    Howdy folks,
After reading today's article on the 2500+ I was immediatly curious if the barton 2800+ could expect to reach the same gains from such small tweaks.

I have an Asus A7n8x deluxe and the barton 2800+.

If not those exact gains, does anyone have an idea what kind of performance increase I would hope to achieve with modest changes?

    Thank you much.

Well its really all to do with the stepping code, and nothing to do with the chip itself.

I dont know the best stepping for 2800+ though :S

Well, I have a good batch of corsair I'm convinced, so I suppose I'll just experiment this weekend and see how it goes.

I got my 2500 XP to 2000mhz (10x multiplier 200mhz bus) on this shuttle sn45g the other day there. The temp only increased by 1 degrees C. Think I got one of these good cpu's too. I'd say the 2800 will happily hit 3200 speeds as long as you can lower the multiplier. I wouldn't think that a 2500 can hit 3200 and a 2800 couldn't, that wouldn't be fair

If you got some pc3200 or higher memory, give it a bash, it's not like you'll fry it. I'm sure your PC will switch off before it does.

This sounds promising already. I'll go ahead and post my findings this weekend as I come across them.

My main goal is to get both my ram and my cpu at 400mhz. My clockspeed doesn't concern me all that much, although more is always better.

    Hi
Just like to add, that is quite easy to overclock an XP 2800+ to an 3200+
    I am running Twinmos PC3700 (2x256MB) @ 220FSB synched (11x)
    2.5.3.3.8 latency settings
I'll have to do some more testing though. Where can I get Memtest from?

    So far, really sweet..
