Mini ITX build for £200 pound,

    Hi,

As per the title, I am looking for an mini ITX build for £200 pound, I would ideally like the parts to fit into the case below, the system will be running freenas for file sharing so does need to have a 64bit compatible CPU.

Any recommendations or suggestions most welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Mini ITX build for £200 pound,

    What parts do you need?

If it is including the case, that means only £135 for the whole build.

You can fit 4 3.5" drives into this case:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/392377-coolerm...e-rc-120a-kkn1

    Edit!!

These two motherboards with integrated CPUs have 4 SATA ports:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/583013-biostar...ard-nm70i1037u
    http://www.ebuyer.com/482567-gigabyt...d-ga-e350-win8

If you want more SATA ports, this motherboard has 7 SATA ports:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/456469-asrock-...tx-fm2a85x-itx

This CPU would do the job:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/505360-amd-a-s...-ad4000okhlbox

However, that is around £97 of a your budget gone.

Re: Mini ITX build for £200 pound,

That is a good case, I'm just putting together an itx system with one. With a bit of invention you could probably get 8 2.5" drives, although you might be pushed to find an itx board with 8 SATA ports.

Itx boards do tend to be a bit more expensive than ATX or mATX boards. You might be better looking for one with an integrated processor and onboard graphics. On the plus side, the integrated boards tend to be lower power, so you save on the PSU.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the responses,

I would be looking for the following parts: CPU, motherboard with onboard graphics, memory and PSU. I have some HDD's already.

Re: Mini ITX build for £200 pound,

You probably don't need such a big PSU, I'm planning on using a 300W to run an Intel core 3 system with three drives and an LTO tape drive.

The image didn't have prices on it, so I'm a bit diifident about suggesting alternatives but you might want to consider this

    or this

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigab...-dvi-hdmi-mitx

although that doesn't leave a lot left for processor and memory.

Re: Mini ITX build for £200 pound,

The Elite Power 500W is a bit crap AFAIK.

    This would probably be fine:

    http://www.cclonline.com/product/982...t-OEM/PSU0486/

However,I would look at the following PSUs too:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/450w-...n-atx-v231-psu
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/360w-...lent-fan-dc-dc

Both use ball bearing fans and the Seasonic G 360W is 80+ Gold rated.

Another PSU that will fit the case (and the one I am using )

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/300w-...lus-bronze-psu (currently out of stock at scan though)

or for a little less (and in stock at Scan)

Re: Mini ITX build for £200 pound,

    Hi,
    Thanks for the responses,

I have decided to work with the £200 budget for the hardware only and leaving the case out at the moment. So I was wondering if you could suggest some more CPU's that would work with the above motherboards?

    Many thanks for your help.

Re: Mini ITX build for £200 pound,

The FM2 mini-ITX motherboards have a large number of available SATA ports, compared to most Intel ones. You can get this 65W TDP A8-5500 quad core:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/398816-amd-a8-...-ad5500okhjbox

However, for normal duties the A4 4000 should be enough TBH.

There is also an FM2+ version of the ASRock motherboard which is starting to enter retail and will work with Kaveri.

    Hi,
    Thanks again for your response,

Am I correct in thinking that the Asrock board will work with the AMD A8 5500 CPU?

    Many thanks,

    Many thanks,

It should be fine. There is the faster A8 5600K but this has a 100W TDP instead of the 65W TDP of the A8 5500. It seems the FM2+ version of the motherboard is over £20 more and TBH an A8 5500 should be more than enough for server duties - the A4 4000 is faster than many prebuilt NAS CPUs for example.
