    Identify this AMD processor?

BIOS startup lists it as "AMD K7 Duron 1.05GHz" but in XP System Properties it's displayed as "AMD Athlon(tm) Processor 1.39GHz".

    Any ideas please?

Thanks but I'm not sure what that means!

I'm going to sell the PC on eBay and fear that I might have described it incorrectly as an Athlon!

Try using cpuZ (do a google) to identify it .... firstly it sounds like fsb is set wrong, secondly, probably is a Duron.
edit: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-124.zip - just googled it myself and got the new version ............ ooh my Prescotts D0 stepping

I've just run CPUZ and it comes up as:

    AMD Athlon, Thunderbird, Socket A
    Core Speed 1046.2 MHz

    Does this help?

It's running at an odd speed. If CPU-Z calls it a Thunderbird, then it is an Athlon rather than a Duron. Look at the cache to confirm, it should have 256KB of L2 cache.

Better still though, as skattrd says, post a screeny.

It should be 1.133, as in 133 fsb and 10x muplitplier, make sure you haven't messed around with the fsb..?

I think its a 1400mhz cpu (10.5 x 133) running at 100mhz fsb for some reason ...... probably an Athlon, maybe a Duron

1.Post an image to a website, probably you're own personal webspace.
    2. Find out the exact address of the picture (http://www.yourwebspace.cm/picture01.jpg)
    3. type [IMG] on the hexus post
    4. then paste the web link
    5. then type [/img] after the image

Have you done any bridge mods on it? It's most likely a Thunderbird 1400. Alternativley take your heatsink off and look at it's colour, if it's a thunderbird it'll be a pale blue.

If he's taking the cooler off we can identify it from the code.
