motherboard frying psu

so i have i7 920 on asus x58d premium gtx560 thermaltake 700watt thoughpower
last when i turned it on it ran fine for 5 minutes then when i played a game for 5 seconds it turned off
i tried power button
removed everything then installed it back no use
today i installed my friends psu a 500watt
same case ran fine but when i opened game it died
not both psu won't turn on even with shorting the wires on 20-24 pin cable
now i have 2 dead psu lying (one which i will have to paay my friend)

please help ?????

What make are the PSUs?

My suspicion would be that you have overloaded the PSUs and either blown an internal fuse if one is fitted or an internal component if one is not. High end PSUs usually have some form of electronic overload protection that reduces the risk of overload damage.

if i shot the blue and green wire on psu it turn on but not with shorting green wire with black

Both PSUs should be able to cope with overload OK.

I am tending to think that there is a fault on the motherboard or the GPU.

16 with 14 pin powers on supply
but shorting 16 with gnd does not power on supply which earlier did power on

Is that the same on both PSUs?

Then if you are absolutely certain about the pins you are connecting together, (and you haven't mis counted or mis-identified the pins) hen the probability is that either the CPU and/or the motherboard and/or the GPU has failed catastrophically and has caused damage to the PSU's.

Without examining components and carrying out other more complex tests it is almost impossible to determine how or exactly what. The standard basic fault finding technique is to strip the system down and test it with minimal components plugged in - but to do that you would need another PSU, and on the basis of what has happened so far, I think you run a real risk of damaging that.

If the system just turns off - my money would also be GPU. I've had this happen too many times, but it sounds like it's going wrong when things get hot, and a problem with overheating on one of the GPU's is more likely. Try each individually.

tried with a 6850 same problen now it won't even boot dram light on board blinks thats it .nothing happens fan will not even spin

A lot of modern PSUs need load on the black / green connection, and not just a bit of wire. A simple resistor is normally enough.
Worth trying before considering them dead (or try in another system)

May be another stupid question, but have you tried the motherboard out of the case, in case of shorts? I know that it's a pain and a long shot, but worth investigating.

yep tried it out of the case no result
dram lights blinks nothing happens

Have you tried a BIOS reset on the Motherboard?

removed cmos battery for 10 min psu plugged off
no use
