Best microphone and headset combo for <£100

I want plan on getting a new headset and microphone in the future and want to get a good idea at what to get I plan on using them for gaming and youtube.

I'm currently using a pair of plantronics 780 which are good for what I paid for them about a year or so ago (£40) but I want to get a new pair of headphones because the wire on the plantronics is just a mess and the quality isn't the best.

The combo I am looking at the moment is the samson go mic http://www.scan.co.uk/products/samso...-and-much-more and sennheiser hd 429s http://www.scan.co.uk/products/sennh...429-headphones.

    Any advice would be great

I have the Samson Mic, it is a brilliant microphone, the three modes allows it to be used for many different setups (general Skype as well as being used as a dedicated microphone for voice overs and such)
That being said, I am currently used a £5 mic in the form of the Neewer Lapel Microphone, look on youtube for audio tests, but basically it an equally good microphone.

As for headphones, the Senn 429 is a pretty decent pair of headphones, personally I am using the CAL! by creative and that is what I recommend to people, easily as good as other £150 headphones I have tried out with a little bit of EQ'ing as offers a good balance between brilliant sounding music (read some reviews, its regarded as one of the best £50-60 headphones out.) and being very good for gaming (has a wide sound stage so games such as BF4, explosions and gunshots sound as if they are coming from all angles and sound full, but not too bassy which is a problem for gaming)

I had the 780 headset myself. Broke the band after 8 months.
Being no kind of audiophile, but loving reasonable quality sound, I switched to the Corsair Vengeance 1500 headset. Love it to bits!!

I was going through headsets at a ridiculous rate so I decided to go wireless, I am using (and have been now for about 8 months) the Sennheiser RS120 with an Sound Blaster X Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB Sound Card.

Its gonna put you about £20 over the £100 budget but the sound is crystal clear!

(You could probably find it inside the £100 budget if you shopped around a bit)

    Sennheiser RS120 - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/sennh...and-100m-range
Sound Blaster X Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB Sound Card - http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/creative-s...und-card-a09kj

As far as a microphone is concerned I use a standard mic thats built into my webcam and its sound quality is incredible too.

I'm currently using the Sennheiser PC360, it was approx £120 when I bought them a couple of years ago, not sure how much they cost now though.

Personally I was thinking the same thing a few months ago and so bought a pair of Steelseries Siberia V2's... Find that the mic on them is able, but has a bit of static on it, however that seems to be a microsoft driver issue as it goes away when I plug it into something else. Personally I prefer the sound on 'em to my older Sennheiser HD215's which still retail for close to £80, whereas the Sibera V2's are more in the £60's (sorry can't post links... need 5 posts first ~.~)

Re: Best microphone and headset combo for <£100

CAL! + Samson Go Mic or Neewer Lapel Mic.

Headphones wise, they are pretty much one of the best headphone at the £50 mark, offer a somewhat warm tone to them, aren't overly bassy so explosions and such don't overpower everything when gaming. Are very EQ'able.

Microphone whise, the Go Mic is good for everyday use as well as for voice over work for YouTube and such, it offers three modes, all of which are very good. However if youre microphone is just going to be used for Skype ect, the neewer lapel mic at £5 is amazing, it sounds decent and you can get 5 for £5.

Look at some reviews so you can form your own opinion from what I've said.

I use a Roccat Kave 5.1 headset myself (circa £50-60) - excellent sound quality; especially positional sound - really like it myself.
