    Cool mATX build

    Hi Hexites

I am looking towards building a new PC.
    Looking for
    -a motherboard that has 4 DDR3 slots
-small case but not so tiny like a mini itx case
    -mATX PSU
    -onboard gfx

I am not too up-to-date on AMD's offerings. I am considering going for an i5 but if AMD has an equivalent but cheaper alternative, I am all ears.

It will make no realworld difference for web browsing and the like. I would put the money saved into an SSD or SSHD drive for the OS. It will make more of a realworld difference in the "speed" of the system,as memory and HDD bottlenecks are more noticeable IMHO.

    CAT,
Is 4GB RAM enough for the AMD APU chips ?
    And, A10 5700 vs A10 5800K - the 5700 has a lower TDP, go for it then ?
    Any recommended slim cases ?

    Re: mATX build

You definitely do not need an i5, it's a fantastic chip, I own one myself, but total overkill for your needs.
An i3 might not be a bad option, it's cheaper than the A10 5700, or you could go for an A8 chip.
Personally I'd avoid the 100W AMD options.

Just pick a case that you like, your system won't need amazing airflow, nor will it make much noise.

    Re: mATX build

Oh and even simple web browsing can eat up a lot of RAM, when I was just on 4GB I ran into terrible trouble when I had a lot of tabs open.

Hi, was talking about the shared RAM usage of the AMD chips

    Re: mATX build

Yes, but it all depends upon how much you need for the rest of the system.
The APU/IGP isn't going to use that much itself.

    After much deliberation, I went for a i5 3330s for £96

OK not a bad option, good price.
Personally I tend to find Intel builds a little easier.

You've bought it? And the MB?
