    Booting without a video card?

    Hi

    - i was wondering, can i boot my server up without a graphics card?

    - i know in the bios you can select "halt on all but vga" - should that work?

    - the mobo is an old Asus K7T pro1, i just dont have enough vid cards to go round atm

I'm pretty sure that won't work, the motherboard will just refuse to post, but you can always try it Switch it on (without the video card) and try and access it over the network.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

    yeah

    - i did try it, and it doesnt work, the mobos onboard LED things didnt show up any errors, but i could see it over the network, and the FDD light was stuck on :S

    - i was thinking, if i booted with a card in, and then, once it had botted, took the card out, quickly, without it noticeing....

would most likely blow the board doing that, like I did with a 9600 pro when they were worth a pretty penny
