Infrared Port (for desktop)

hi

- is it possbale to tranfer files (ie *.mid ring tones) to and from a IR phone frona PC with an IR port?
- if so, do i just need to use a laptop or a Desktop with a USB IR port?

- is it true that you can get "IR backplates" that plug directly into mobo headers of some desktop PCs (like the USB backplates)??

Waste of time, if you can get a USB cradle for the device, or bluetooth tech works, go for that. You still need the software even if you do waste cash on infrared kit for the PC (IrDA)

ok, i might do that

- the phone is a nokia 660i

- so i can get a cable off nokia

- i just though the IR might be cool

yes it is i have a infared usb dongle and it works, without anything but the software supplied choose your file click send and bobs your uncle the file in on the phone.

Yeh InfraRed is pretty cheap and easy. Much like bluetooth

I would say bluetooth is so cheap now that it is worth getting a dongle instead of the dated IR.

True. I have an InfraRed dongle that I used with my old phone but I've just ordered a bluetooth one for my new one
