i want a fanless power supply i currently have a zalmann 400w psu which is a decent psu but its time i got rid of that last fan in my quest for silence !
what are my options to get ideally i want somethin with the power and stability of a tagan as useing 8rdavcore i see a fair bit of fluctuation in my voltages which i reckon is hindering my overclocking but mostly i just want clean stable power with no noise !
I recon zalman has a fanless psu already... expensive tho... Tagans are spretty much silent :)

You might want to try and find the Antec 'Phantom' PSU in stock somewhere - it's meant to be the best silent PSU':

Or you could try a PSU with a 120mm fan inside (Akasa, Silverstone, Nexus and Fortron do them plus a few others... As far as I can tell the Akasa and Silverstone PSUs are the same thing - both made my Enhance - and the Nexus PSU is made by Fortron - though it's black and uses an orange fan instead if such things matter to you). If you're getting a new PSU you might want to check that it's ATX 2.0 (meaning it has 2 separate 12v lines - one for the mobo and one for everything else) which in theory at least ought to mean more stable voltages.
Check out the PSU section @ www.silentpcreview.com... They do very in depth PSU reviews. If you like one particular model do some googling to get a few different opinions - especially for a silent PSU - as it's obviously MUCH more likely to go 'pop'.
For what it's worth I think most silent PSUs are designed to be run in cases that have at least 1 fan... Though I personally would be tempted to go with one in a case that's G5 style (i.e. perforated for lots of 'natural' convection)... Also - the quieter you get the fans the more you'll notice the other sources of noise (HDD, optical drive)... So yo u might want to think about quietening those down while you're at it (Samsung HDDs are meant to be quietest, Nero drive speed can reduce the maximum read speed for most optical drives)
thanks for the replys ! i am going to order a watercooled hardrive bay which holds 4 drives ! its also supposed to seriously quieten them down , i was thinking about the g5 style case i cant remember the one i saw a think it was a lian li very nice but to have i would have to have a silent psu as in no fans atall ive not read about the antec one review wise just some snippets i will look it up now if its better than the silverstone effort that cant be too bad
i want one with plenty power as i will be running 4 hard drives and 1 optical maybe 2 at a push
1st drive will be a raptor as my sytem drive
2nd drive will be a 40gb caviar se which will handle downloads from bit torrent and the like (dont like the constant writeing to my new and bigger drives which stores all my data
3rd drive is a hitachi 7k250 which i store data on
4th drive is the new maxline i have just ordered which is 300 gb which is another storage drive as im running out of space
im hopeing the quad bay watercooler for the drives will cool them all enough as from what i can tell it doesnt have 1/2 inch connections like the rest of my system ...
i will also be cooling my gfx card when i get a new one
so everythin should be silent only really the drives that can make a noise now ....
do you think anyone can custom build a power supply thats watercooled
ive seen them done but dont fancy messing with psu internals myself !
Silverstone do a totally silent PSU. I dont know if there are any watercooled PSUs (as standard ;))
SilentX do some very quiet fan ones <14dB which is what i have (Available at Kustom PCs) and it is very quiet. I think SilentX do some fanless ones too

I've never like the idea of mixing water and a psu. But thats just me.
well ive already watercooled my pc anyways an have been doing it for about 3 or 4 years without a hitch had the odd leak during assembly etc but thats coz im too lazy and too inpatient to do the test for 24 hours before fitting thing
that psu aint bad doesnt look too good cooling wise tho
