    Need Printer *Under £100*

    Hey

I know this is not in the right section or don't even know if there is a right section for this. So delete or move if need be. I just need some help buying a printer. I want a printer for £100 or under. Must have decent photo quality DPI, Not too much to replace ink, also a SD card slot would be nice but not essential.

    Cheers

Thats for the official carts... if you want to use other brand ones then it will be cheaper. But every cheap one i have tried smudges even when dried, so i stick with canon carts now.

How about a Pixma iP4000? £100 inc VAT exactly.

That looks great, any idea on how the ink is? Good quantity/price?

Well, usually the ink for any Canon is relatively cheap; separate print heads=cheap cartridges. Beyond that, couldn't tell you.

    Heres what the Pixma4000 uses

    http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/prod...ex.asp?specs=1

    Ink cartridge configuration
    Single Ink technology - five separate ink tanks (BCI-3eBK, BCI-6BK, BCI-6C, BCI-6M, BCI-6Y)

    Black ink tank life
    BCI-3eBK: 330 pages at 5% coverage¹; BCI-6BK: 440 pages at 5% coverage²
    BCI-3eBK: 1500 pages, BCI-6BK: 2000 pages (Printing ISO/JIS-SCID N5)²

    ***
Im a bit confused as to why the 3eBK is quoted at 330 and 1500 pages???
    ***

    Colour ink tank(s) life
440 pages at 5% coverage per ink tank¹
    Cyan: 550 pages, Magenta: 430 pages, Yellow: 360 pages (Printing ISO/JIS-SCID N5)¹

    -----------------------------

IN comparison heres a BCI-24 one

    Cartridges
    Black ink tank: BCI-24 Black
    Colour ink tank: BCI-24 Colour

    Yield
Black ink tank: 130 pages at 5% coverage / 580 pages (printing ISO/JIS-SCOD N5 image
Colour ink tank: 160 pages at 5% coverage / 160 pages (printing ISO/JIS-SCOD N5 image

As you can see the difference is not trivial the average price in shop for a official canon bci 24 is £6 for black and £11 for colour. (generics and copies are cheaper but not of the same quality).

    where as
    BCI-3eBK
    BCI-6BK £8
    BCI-6C
    BCI-6M
    BCI-6Y

i cant find most (didnt look hard) so it seems the pixma is much better value for printing.
