    Fanless: Whats the cheapest route?

I'd like to reduce the amount of noise coming from the server. Its not really loud - its running cool as I'm using low RPM 120mm fans for HDD cooling, but the main noise generators are the PSU and the small fan on the Atom.

The make up of the server is as follows:
Gigabyte GA-D525TUD (Atom D525, actively cooled)
    Seasonic 1U PSU
    4x SATA 3.5" HDDs

I was thinking of a full size fanless PSU or a pico PSU - both seem expensive options and I'm unsure of spec I'd need from the pico for it to comfortably run the system?

Also, can anyone recommended a replacement passive cooler for the Atom? It needs to be able to do the job 24/7 at a respectable temp

For an Atom server pretty much any Pico will do the job. I doubt that system pulls more than ~ 30w - 40w ever. Your bigger problem is going to be finding a pico with 4 SATA power connectors - you're probably going to have to get some form of adapter chain going for that.

As to the heatsink on the Atom, your bigger problem is likely to be getting something that will connect safely to the motherboard. Those soldered on processors don't have a standard heatsink fitting, so you're probably going to have tpo mod something. That said, it won't need much of a heat sink, so if you can find a way of sticking something to it you should be OK with most desktop CPU coolers with the fan removed (if it'll fit in your case).
