Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Not the Lenovo A10 based ones - they are well built but the BIOS has the problems which reduces performance.
Anything else you can recommend ?
Which of the APUs should I be looking for ?

HP Pavilion 15-n038sa ?

There are a few on this page:

The A10-4600 and A10-5700 series are what you need to consider.
It is a shame as the Lenovo ones are nice laptops - you will also need to check what RAM is in the laptops. If it is not dual channel 1600MHZ DDR3 at least,IGP performance will crater.
A few more from Dixons:

You're a good man ! Loads of links means it will have to wait till I get home though

Knowing which CPU you want; you can look on notebookcheck and see if it links any models through the CPu review section. Availability is a very different fish though :/

I'd expand that to "No Lenovo Ideapads. Period."
Having seen about a dozen of these go to e-waste in (sometimes much) less than 2 years, I wouldn't suggest those things to anyone. They're all about show & looks, not build quality.
The Ideapad my better half has (gift from her dad unfortunately) probably won't make it to the 1 year 6 months mark. There's too much broken/nonfunctional/on it's way out to even consider fixing it..

Yes I know they're Thinkpad Edges and not "real" thinkpads, but build quality wise, they're still a bit above the average joe consumer crap designed to break ASAP (Looking at you two, HP and Toshiba).
Other than that, here's a price comparison site with more spec details to filter by than I've seen anywhere else..

I've got a Lenovo G505s with an A10-5750m - The CPU throttles to 2.1GHz (from 2.5), and is a known problem (GPU runs fine). Making it effectively an A8 CPU with A10 graphics. On the flip side it came with a 1TB SSHD whereas comparable laptops only have a regular HDD. I've not heard reports of problems with A8 based models, but consider yourself warned if you're looking at the Lenovo G505s.
The first 2 Currys links CAT posted are what I'd be looking at if I were you - that is if you're happy with a refurb.

Cheers all have placed an order on an HP Pavilion with an A10 5750. Bloody nice bit of kit actually
