Got my first mechanical keyboard today! [MX Blues]

Well, straight away I have fallen in love with it. I really like the fact that it clicks! I think it's not going to be great for long periods of use, but for typing I really like it. I had a really cheap backlit keyboard before, and it was pretty terrible. I'm not 100% on the switches though, as I do really like the reds as well.

It's blue backlight, and although it's not my first choice of colour, it still looks amazing.

Overall, I'm very happy with the keyboard and I don't think I will be going back to membrane any time soon.

One last thing I have noticed though, is that you have to press directly down on the switch for it to press easier (amazing English there) which isn't something I'm used to at the moment. My WPM was 90 before I got the keyboard on a membrane, so it'd be interesting to see what it's like after a few weeks of using the MX Blues!

Sweet, I'd love to get one myself although I know from experience that browns are my preferred switches. My main comment would be if you're not sure on the feel of the keys then don't forget that o-rings both reduce the sound and make them easier to type on for many people as the keys don't bottom out to the same extent

I like the tactile bump, and I don't mind that they bottom out, it's just I'm used to being able to press diagonally at a key rather than horizontally

So... what does the misses say about the new MX Blue clickies?

I second Goobley's choice of MX Browns, though. Still tactile, but much quieter, although fitting them with O rings is still a good idea.

The misses? People don't tend to marry at 18 I really like the clicky sound, and it's why I got the blues over browns. In a year, I'll have one keyboard of each

Still looking forward to getting my first mechanical keyboard, have a razer headset and mouse so going to have to dish out for the new blackwidow (I know they are relatively overpriced please don't judge me haha) I can see the rents smashing it in half if I go for the blues though!

The new black widow isn't over priced - I think all mechanical keyboards are. The switches are good, but I could go back to membrane. I wanted the corsair keyboard, but couldn't warrant spending that much money on a keyboard

Re: Got my first mechanical keyboard today! [MX Blues]

I wouldn't say all mechanical keyboards are overpriced, if you're happy to pay for them then they're worth the price.
Some are to me, but that's the thing with value, it's often a very personal thing.

Blues is a good shout, I'm currently on blues at home, not sure if I missed it, but what keyboard did you go for?

Re: Got my first mechanical keyboard today! [MX Blues]

I went for a CM Storm Quickfire TK with MX Blues. Wasn't sure about the blue backlight as I'm a massive red and black fan, although recently everything I have bought has compulsory blue LEDs (can't turn them off) which is why I went for blue on the keyboard.

I have a blue-backlit Ducky Shine II with MX Reds. Gorgeous board, well worth what I spent on it but I've been thinking that maybe I should have gone for Browns instead. Definitely worth a look though, cos you can get them in practically any combination of backlight and switches.

If I was going to spend that sort of money, I would have gone for the corsair, but just didn't want to spend that much on a keyboard

I've been considering a K90 to replace my aging Logitech G15 (first revision!). Still on the fence about it, its not bad to type on though it does look like it's been in a war.

I've noticed that I've started to get RSI with the blues. I'm staring to regret getting them. I find them a lot harder to press down Looks like I'm going to have to trade for a MX Red keyboard
