DVD Dual Layer
DVD Drives
Has anyone noticed that PC hardware reviews never seem to agree with each other. I am currently looking to buy as Dual Layer DVD burner. Just when I think I have found the right one I read a conflicting view.
I think there is such a thing as having too many reviews and too much information. It now seems to take me months to buy an item not including the effort of searhcing for the best price!!!
I am down to two choices
Pionner DVr-108
NEC ND 3500
Can be found at Overclockers.co.uk
I am leaning towrds the pioneer, any advice?

I have the NEC and its been infallible. But tbh I think its so close between the two you won't be upset either way.
If money is a factor go for the cheapest.

The NEC beats the Pioneer in every review I've seen that I'd trust, but it is only just. The only alternative has been the LG, because of its DVD-RAM support and possibly better media capabilities.
However I believe Plextor have jusr brought out a new DL drive.

I think the Pioneer uses the NEC chip anyway!
The NEC has faster CD writing speeds

Happy NEC 3500 user here. £45+del from Komplett this week, BTW:).

Another NEC 3500 user. I would go with that as there isn't much difference between the two. Plus I know with the NEC you can flash the firmware so it gives you: RPC 1, Riplock removed, Dual Layer and Single Layer Bitsettings.
