    Which nforce2 mobo?

Right I was planning to make my order at the beginning of this week but every supplier I tried didn't have the PSU in stock that I wanted but hopefully they are coming in tommorow.

Anyway back to the subject. Which board is recommended for nForce2? I was set on getting an aBit NFS-2 but I've just read a review on here for the DFI LanParty board and am now being swayed in that direction.

Can anybody give a poor helpless person some advice on this one please?!?

    Cheers

DFI lanparty NF2Ultra here and it's very nice indeed.

Only thing to think about is if you want a wacking great heatsink that uses the 4 mounting holes or not, as the DFI doesn't have any at the moment, it may well have them in revision 2 though.

Abit NF7-S all the way. Great performance, stable, fantastic onboard audio.

Well I'm gunna be running a Coolermaster Aero 7 Lite on the board and I know that it uses standard clips and not the mounting holes so I should be okay there until I go to upgrade.

Have you overclocked yours at all? Am gunna be using a Barton 2500+ in mine with 1gb of TwinMOS PC3200 but I may drop that down to only 512mb as that seems slightly excessive to me. I've got 768mb of SDRAM now in my KT7 and I never use it all

Definitely Abit NF7. If your into sound get the NF7-s (unless your a real sound boffin, in which case the top end creative are prolly better).

No.2 choice is the asus a7n8x iirc.

I would stick with the nf7-s v2.0 that you were originally going for... if performance is your thing?

Aye! Excellent BIOS options for everything many many DDR ratios etc. 220Mhz+ FSB easy.

I love any board with power and reset switches built onto the mobo as I run my PC on the desk these days (no case) so it makes it easier for me to switch it on

Fans are low volume and very quiet. That's why there's so many of them LOL.

I'm not keeping the DFI BTW, so PM me if you fancy it.

The DFI does have the same as well. I guess the major thing about the board is that it is going to be put through some stressing cause I'm gunna OC the barton. I guess in this instance its all down to my personal preference as the boards are practically the same with some minor differences.

But then again i guess that I can get hold of the DFI and if it doesn't perform to how I expect, I can RMA it and buy the NFS-2

I cant say what the DFi Lan party board is like because i just dont know although it does seem to be a good board. But personally i woudl stick with the NF7-S it s a proven board people have been hitting 220+ FSb pretty easily on stock cooling and the soundstorm audio is apparently excellent.

That is something that I have been trying to find out actually with regards to what sound the DFI comes supplied with. i know that the NFS-2 comes with soundstorm but DFI just plain do not give any information about it Which is a shame.

its weird cause after everything you guys have told me, I am still no closer to a decision on my part typical for me really

DFI's website lists the board as using the MCP-T with 6-channel sound , which should mean Soundstorm.

I am personally happy with my Epox 8rda+

Only thing that lets it down is lack of spdif and serial ata!
(Although I borrowed a mate's bracket from his msi board, and re-wired it to get it working with my epox)
