    Options at the budget end

I'm looking into replace my win7 laptop which has give up the ghost but most options at low end don't particularly appeal particularly with 4 cell batteries. Budget ideally 500 - but may stretch it 50 quid if I see value.

    Am mulling over:

    a) Get a cheap budget device (<400) and use money saved to buy an SSD drive (better speed?) link1 or

    b) Go with an APU link 2

    c) Forgo budget laptop altogether and get a Surface 2 device (better battery life and limited functionality)

If you're not too concerned about buying a refurbished system, how about something from the Dell Outlet? I've purchased two laptops from there before, and they were pretty good specced for the price I paid

If choosing from just those three, then I would go for the HP. My cousin leant me his, and it is a fast machine. Does everything you need it to really (aside from running demanding games) but it has a large storage capacity and more RAM than you will ever need on a laptop.

Could also maybe try something from the Dell Outlet, if you're not too bothered about buying a refurbished system (or a Dell laptop!). I purchased two for relatives, they looked like they were brand new
