which HDD based MP3 player

Ok, christmas is one its ay, and i need a HDD based MP3 player

- i only have about 13gb of MP3's, so a 10 or 15GB play would be enough

- I would really like it to be "mass storage dive compatable"

- becuase i dont what to be bother with another peice of badly designed software (i've had a sonty MD player, and i dont wanna got there again)

- i just wana be able to Drag and Drop my MP3's stright into a the HDD

- i dont really what an iPod, beacuse most people say there not very good, and there a bit "popular"

i was loking at the iRiver H320, has anyone else got this, or can someone point my at anythink better?

Bought my daughter the iRiver HP-120, its a beaut, clarity of sound is excellent even with the supplied ear pieces. Surely that is the most important aspect?
Ease of use: drag and drop it appears as an additional drive will act as mass storage device, voice recorder, even the FM radio is excellent. Solid build, all metal case.
Go for it.

Well I have a Cowon iAudio M3 20GB HDD MP3 player.
Its drag and drop, and the most compact 20Gigger there is...imo it looks great too

A friend of mine has the iriver 40 gig model, which is quite..bulky..but its great.
Feature wise both models are pretty much the same.

Check out cnet.com for reviews of both...
The Iaudio just relies on the remote to see what tracks are playing..this is fine for me personally I dont like taking it out of pocket all the time...

You cant go wrong with either Iaudio or Iriver.

last i checked sony players coulen't play mp3 - they could ony play ATRAC3, transferrable only with Sony Connect software.

your wishlist would be covered by an iriver or creative labs product.

My mate and my boss both got the iriver hp140. Bleedin excellent thing, plug in usb and it appears as a drive letter in my computer, copy and paste any files to it. The 40gb one is the best value, so if your using it as a file storage device as well as an mp3 player the 40g space would seem best to go for its not much more expensive than the hp120.

creative Jukebox ZEN Touch 20 Gb player gets my vote here. Its very easy to use, the touch is uber sensitive and once you get used to it its great for flicking through 100's of mp3's without second thought.

Build Quality is good enough to withstand a drop down the stairs and the volume levels about 20 are somewhat ear-bashing to say the least.

battery life is awesome - lasting over 24 hours without recharge and still performing at a quite high volume level as well

Sony HD1 and dont even consider anything else mate.

I've gone through three iPods in the last two years and got myself the Sony player when out in Japan 4-5 months ago, and after using it for so long I cannot believe how people can live with the iPod.

The Sony is much lighter, its smaller, has an actual remote (as opposed to the basic cheap thing you now have to pay for seperately with the new iPods), and the most crucial factor is that the battery lasts for 30hours!

A Zen touch would suit you nicely, tho theres absolutely nothing wrong with ipods, and they are popular for a reason u know....

And just a little word of advice... Your collection of music will expand rapidly most likely, so don't be fooled by the amount you currently have. With more capacity you have the space to expand

The Rio Karma comes highly rated. There is no manual but it's supposed to be easy to control (you navigate the manu via a control wheel). I recommended this to one of my m8s dads and he is very very happy with it. Heres some specs

If i was looking at getting an MP3 player at the moment this would be one of the top contenders for what id get. Your correct about the problems with Ipods. Alot of people have had dud batteries (which only last 8 hours) and the keypad isn't very reliable apparantly. The only reason the Ipod are popular is due to the advertisement they've had. How many other MP3 players have you seen advertised on TV. I cant think nor remember of ne others. I personally wouldnt touch them for the reasons above and i just dont like them.
