Windows XP/Shuttle Issue - Please Help

Hi guys I just built a shuttle for my boss at work, he gave me all the bits and I stuck them together and installed windows xp sp2 (not sure how legal his disc is as it was a cdr) – windows installs fine and so do all the other programs, but as soon as he gets it home (as this has happened twice) it fails to boot asking for the windows disc to be inserted and to press ‘R’ for a repair… which does not seem to do much, it complains about a corrupt system32 file… I will post more details when I see him.

I just thought I would post here and see if anyone has any experience or may know what I mean.

    More info to come….

    Shuttle SN45G
    AMD 3000
    512 DDR 400
    80 Maxtor9 Driver
    7000 Rad Card

    Programs installed
    Windows XPSP2
    Office 2003 SP1
    Nero 6 – (latest version)
Nvidia Nforece Driver 4.27 (I think)
    Power DVD
    WMP10
    Adobe 6.01

No files has been copied over

That generally happens when something's running too hot or too fast - you've not o'cd it have you (or he)?

If so, cool it a bit more (big fan) and try again - it should work OK, it's happened to me more than once.

However, it could be something more..... sinister?

Not the problem with the shuttle. The CD is probably knackered.

We use a corp license XP at work so its legal to make copies, we have a few in the workshop. One worked fine for months but had the same problem you described, threw it out and burnt new CD.
