Is a 200w PSU useable in a modern system, if it was only running a single optical drive and a single hard disk, no extra fans or lights etc?

And the answer is probably going to be no - not becauase 200w isnt enough, but i doubt the lines will be stable enough.
Where did you get a 200watt ATX PSU from anyway ? - a really old one by any chance ?
I would say any Thunderbird/P3 range of machine needs 300w minimum. So 200w is only usuable for somethign below that probably the P2/K6 range of machines and below.
I ran a 1.2 Ghz T-Bird, 512 Pc-133, 1 HDD, 1 CD-Rom, 16mb Voodoo3, on a 200W, not for a large amount of time, only a couple of days, whilst i was building my new system. It was a sparkle PSU, not a bad make if I remember correcty, and worked fine.
So, maybe, even though most like to say 300W minimum

For joy, apparently, it was all Franny could do to hold the phone, even with both hands.
Keep it then, as mentioned if you ever set up a small system you might need it!!!.
