    Logitech Z-5300 or Z-2200?

Well, firstly i use my pc for several hours each day and i'm listening to music most of the time. I play games probably about once every week and very rarely watch DVDs unless they're ones which are just on my pc

Well, the Z-5300s are 5.1 and i asume lower quality than the Z-2200s which are 2.1

The Z-2200s use the same speakers as the Z-680s AFAIK and the same sub?

Well, here are the spec pages
    Z-5300 - http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...=6851,detail=2
    Z-2200 - http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...=7170,detail=2

Which ones would you chose with my usage and why?

    nobody got any recomendations?

I'm thinking Z-2200s now as tbh i listen to music alot more than anything else and i;m guessing that they're much better for music.

Also i don't have that much space on my desk so 2 speakers and the little control's better than 3 speakers and the little control

there very closely matched in spec, a touch more power on the 2.1's but personally id go for the 5.1 but i dont think you'd miss the extra speakers if you went for the 2.1's

have you also considered The creative MegaWorks® THX® 2.1 250D same price and more power

ok, While the 5.1 has more speakers it's not realy beter... The 2.1 as mentioned is more powerfull per speaker, However I havent ever turned mine up past 50%! Any more and my ears would be bleading! Personaly I'd go for the Z-5500 Digital if you want a 5.1 system... http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=9486

However if thats out of your price range then I'd definatly go for http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=5048 Which is the same as the 2.1 your looking at only more of it!

Hi, if you are not interested for music only i would recomment the 2200 Logitech series, should do more than fine
For 5.1 sound then look above post.

I recently ordered the Gigaworks, still waiting for it to be delivered

I am not sure how much the Z-5500 is, but if they are within the same price range, the Megaworks (which is cheaper nowdays after the release of the Gigaworks), can be a good buy too.

    thanks everyone!

looking at the gigaworks ones, i think they actually have less power. The gigaworks have their peak power in the specs which is 300W and on the Logitechs the peak power is 400W

And myth, i'd get either of those sets if i could afford them! lol i'm not looking at much more than £100

I think from some reviews i've read that the real output power is somehting like 300w for the gigaworks and 400w for the logitech Z2200 series in depence with the gigaworks relative series.

There is -so- much more to speakers than Wattage..
Personally, I didn't even look at wattage when I bought my paid for my Gigas.

    http://www.3dss.com/reviews/procross/provscrossp5.html
Sirocco Crossfire is 100W (RMS), but compares rather favorably against the Promedia which is 400W (RMS).

They also sound worse... I was lucky to be able to listen to both the kishloft ( cant spell it), the cambridge (gigaworks) and the logitech... The choice I made is obvious...

Good speaker cables aren't made to look pretty. Same applies to speakers.
Aesthetic again is not high priority for me.

I've not heard the Z-Series.. But I've had the chance to compare the Megaworks, Gigaworks and the Z-680 (which judging from the price is Logitech's "flagship" MM speaker). None of them are awful by any mean. But I'd definitely go Giga > Mega > Z-680 overall.

Logitech has been (in)famous in making "boom boxes" (boomy sub-woofer.. which some people may like, don't get me wrong, but isn't my thing). The 560 has been prime example, and the 680 made improvement but many would agree they still have a way to go.. So unless they made further improvement on their (cheaper) X-series. I can't say I trust them all that much.

The speaker I would really like to compare would be the Gigaworks and the Klipsh Ultra. The later is generally regarded as having the best MM subs bare none according to the 3dss folks. Though the stats are more debated. But since we can't get those in the UK, the choices are made much simpler...

right next to the voulume knob there is a base knob! You can practicaly turn the sub off if you want!

You can adjust the sub.. and the treble too I am sure.

But those are quantitative. If they were qualitative, there would be little difference from one speaker set to another, as most of them allows you to adjust those.

I am no audiophile, so I am not sure how to describe sound accurately. But I think you can tell that there is difference between two sub, set to similar power. The Logitech are great for shaking the ground for instance (and it does the "booming" sound of course), no doubt (and for games, I am sure you will appreciate that). And maybe for some music you can appreciate that too (not sure). But for all round use, I prefer a bass thats still powerful, but, erm.. tighter?

Likewise you can tweak the treble to make the music sound better, but its no substitute if the mid-high are slightly limited by the hardware.
