    Question Opinions on Build Please

    Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor
Corsair Obsidian 750D Full Tower Case
    Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5 Intel Z97
    TeamGroup Elite Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Corsair Hydro H110 280mm High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

For the slots I have left out, i.e PSU, GFX and so on, I already have good kit.

When you say "i already have good kit" what is the kit you already have and what is the purpose of the build ie.. is it for gaming, productivity?

    Re: Opinions on Build Please

    All right then:

    PSU: Corsair AX750 Fully Modular
GFX: MSI Radeon 7850 Twin Frozor 2GB OC
Storage: Numerous. I will be booting from an M.2

Since posting I have changed the RAM for Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz and the H110 for a H100i in pull possibly push pull to exhaust out the top. Also the MB is now an Asus z97 A.

The intention is work and gaming. Work is Software Engineering so quite a lot of CPU intensive activity and multi threading. Gaming I see as being higher mid level.

    Re: Opinions on Build Please

sounds like good build to me.

heard a lot of good things about the termals on the new intel CPUs, they have made them better and they run cooler at higher cpu loads. They seem to volt better as well and you can OC them harder as well.

what resolution will you be gaming at? i find my 7850 ok for running at lower resolutions with high detail. i run at 1680 x 1050 ( due to limitations of my monitor ) and all my games run at 50fps ok. can expect it to drop a little at 1920

Well embarrassingly I've implemented a 'poor man's Eyefinity' so 3840x1024, all 19" LCD junker monitors!!! Don't worry I plan to upgrade that card in a year to an NVIDA solution so I can take advantage of the CUDA for work (and play) and for higher than mid level gaming.

Eyefinity is truly fantastic. I have it configured to be x3 group + 1 extended desktop. Games will use the x3 group and I have the + 1 off to my far right so that I can have a browser, chat or whatever up at the same time. When working I use HydraGrid to pin windows about the place.

I actually have 2 Eyefinity setups in the house right now; my partner uses the other for work and gaming as well. I plan to give my daughter one once the upgrades are done.

At work I use Eyefinity over 4 large 32" touch screens, that is truly awesome, can't game on it though XD
