    Re: c drive full

    You could:

    1. Add another drive and use that for data storage, freeing space on your current drive for the operating system and applications.

    Or

    2. Get a second large drive, clone your existing drive to it, then resize the partition to make all the drive available.

There are a few other options, like adding a second drive and making the two drives a spanned or smart volume, but for simplicity, option one is probably the way to go.

    Re: c drive full

You don't want to move programs, you'd have to reinstall them and instead of using the default settings, change the location of the install to a different drive.

The first thing to do is find out where/what is using up drive space.

Drivetree is a very handy utility for this http://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/
It will scan drives and folders and give you a simple breakdown for what using how much space.

One thing I will note is that windows likes to fill up your user profile and user folders with all sorts of junk, it's the main primary download and temporary file storage location and is defaulted to the c drive.
So it could well just be a matter of deleting/moving out junk you don't need to free up space.

You should also be able to move Lightroom's catalogue file.

    Re: c drive full

I have just had another lok at your system specs, and see that you have four 1TB drives connected.

I don't know how you have your drives configured, but as a short term fix, upgrading the C drive to 2TB as I mentioned in the first post is a solution.

However, 1TB is quite a lot of space to have used up, so as pob255 says, it is worth investigating further how the drive is being used. My guess is that you have a lot of temporary files that have not ben deleted, or you have a lot of files in the trash can/ waste paper basket. These still take up drive space until it is emptied.

So first move is to open the WPB and delete everything that is in there.

There are other tools in Windows that enable yo to see how a drive is being used, right clicking on a drives gives you access to some of these with the option of deleting old files that you don't need. Photo and video editing software can create large temporary workfiles, which may be left behind if the application does exit correctly.

The download tools are usually part of the web browsers these days, so unless you had previously a standalone dedicated download manager/tool,you don't have to re-install anything.
Next time you will download something, you will see.
I would, however, suggest one thing. In your chosen browser go to settings and set the downloads to always ask you for the destination folder. That way you can avoid filling up your C: drive. Or establish a download folder somewhere outside your C: drive and set that as your default download folder,to save yourself some time.
