Building a PC

Hi, i'm building a gaming pc with a budget of around £1000 for the hardware. I have a good idea what to buy already but i'm not particularly good at knowing if it will work or not.
So far the specs are:
Corsair CSM 750W Semi Modular 80+ Gold PSU
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 Mhz (I originally was going to get 2x8gb but it puts me overbudget)
Sandisk 128GB Enterprise Class 2.5" SSD Drive SATA 3
2TB Seagate Barracuda 3.5" SATA III Hard Drive
MSI GTX 780
MSI Z97 GAMING 5 mobo
Intel Core i7-4770K
Aerocool X-Predator X3 Avenger Edition Red Large Tower Case (iron man case)
The case is just an idea for what I need, around £80 for a large tower, not this specific case (unless a better one isn't found).

I would really appreciate some opinions on whether this will work and if I can improve it but keep it around the same price.

Looks okay but why buy 4770 when 4790 is the same rrp and clocks higher. Also an i7 is only very slightly faster in games that supports HT. In those that don't (majority) there's nothing in it.
Does it have to be an nvidia gpu as you could get a 290 aswell as your 16gb and probably still have change.
Don't forget to factor in the cost of an O.S.

Hadn't even considered any other processor but looking at it the 4790 seems a better choice
I prefer nvidia gpus, just a personal thing but I might look into it

The only thing I can see you getting out of a 128GB SSD is faster boot times, you won't get much in the way of games on there. An SSHD has just enough flash to make booting faster, but means everything is on one drive.

Now personally I have a home server for archiving and don't store movies on the PC so I don't need a 2TB drive. I go for smaller drives, recent builds were WD Black laptop ones as they are very quiet and I hate a noisy PC. In fact the last two have been 500GB laptop drives, minimum platters so less parts to fail and very cheap. My own PC has a Windows partition on a 250GB SSD which has the OS and enough games to keep me going. Am down to my last 40GB on that, so might have to delete a game or two if I install many more. Haven't had to so far though.

I mostly don't use an SSHD myself because I am not a great fan of Seagate.

No.

An SSHD has just enough flash to make the OS start up faster. If you aren't going to boot from it, an SSHD is just an overpriced HD.

Drop down to an i5.

You could probably even drop to a 650W PSU with quite a bit of headroom left.

CPU and PSU changes would let you go 16GB if you think your really going to use it....else pocket the cash or buy a larger SSD (would be my choice)

I had looked into getting a 650W psu, I wasnt quite sure the exact W the whole system needs so wanted a safer 750W. How much headroom we talking?

I've run my rig 2500k OC up to 5GHz plus R9 290 overclocked plus 7 fans etc all on a Seasonic 550w no sweat.

Don't bother with a 128GB SSD, you'll want at least a 256GB or you'll end up installing most of your games on your much slower mechanical hard drive. Modern games need a lot of space and they're only gonna get bigger. And yeah, like sqerty said, you might as well go for the 4790 for just a few quid more --OR, especially if it's just for gaming, an i5 4690K will more than see you through the next 3-4 years, saving you some monies for *ehem* a decent sized SSD

I forgot to mention I am also going to be using the pc for coding and other stuff like that, so I think an i7 is necessary. The 4790 is cheaper than the 4770k
I dont think an SSD that big would be financially possible without dramatically downgrading one or two of my other components

AN I7 really isn't need for gaming but if you want it than it's your own choice. Also the 2 x 8gb wasn't needed since as you said this is a gaming rig. Also I'd reccomend get ram without them massive heat spreaders they're basically useless and just get in the way.

I would pick up a decent aftermarket cooler as the stock intel one is crap.
Raijintek Ereboss looks a good budget unit.
Also you need a K cpu edition if you plan on overclocking.
If not OC'ing then no need for OC'able mobo.

Well, nVidia recommends a 600W for the 780...and that's them covering their asses on people buying terrible units. Corsair are far from terrible! The TDP of the card is ~250W. Your CPU is less than 100w. Motherboard and RAM should be less than 50W. Drives are around ~5W.

You could probably run on a decent 500W including a bit of overclocking. 650W leaves some nice headroom and saves some cash (or allows you to spend elsewhere).
