Niiiiiiiiiiiiice
http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/akiba...mage/nge4.html <--- is that a prototype board they're showing? (Big slot at the top looks like a diagnostic port ??)

very nice indeed these fly i bet
I bet buying one will make your wallet light enough to fly too... anyone know what that port on the top is? what would a diagnostic port do?
Let them perform diagnostics...

is there not going to be 5 types of AMD chips coming out next year?
Im sure there is a 939 chip as well.... which has practically no difference from the 940... :/
Does anyone know how far the current XP range will be going on for i.e. if I buy NF7-S now will I be gutted in six months because 3200+ will still be the top cpu for that board or is there room for faster on the current boards like the P4's.
can't see the image directhex - just says tom's hardware guide.
cpus: (don't know about size of cache though)
athlon 64 (single channel ddr) 754 pin
athlon 64 (939 pin) dual channel - these are basically opterons aparently
athlon 64 (940 pin) dual channel - ditto.

Opterons: (All with 1mb l2 cache)
14x - single cpu chip
24x - up to 2 way
84x - quad up to 8 way chips
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/...6_9240,00.html
i think the athlon64 could be one to avoid maybe, especially if you can get a dual channel (939/940 pin) athlon 64 instead.
perhaps the opteron 24x will be the only one that can be used for dual cpu systems, with the athlon64's being only for single systems.

The problem with the Opteron is that AMD need to have the speed scaled rapidly to really compete with the Xeons - especially when the 800MHz FSB Xeons come out - HT2 is getting good.
For the Athlon64, it really depends on when it comes out and at what speeds...
