What Graphics Card to go in my shuttle system

What Graphics Card to go in my shuttle system

    Hi chaps

I’m looking to buy and build a shuttle system and I’m not really sure what graphics card to get, I do like to play the odd FPS game and I do wanna get the new Jedi knight game and MOH… so I guess it needs to be half decent? Will a Geforce4 Ti4200 be ok? For this or even a MX version as some shuttles have this built in? not really sure how well they perform, I’m not a hardened gamer but like a bit of fun… and with the shuttle system I guess only some cards will fit?

    Thanks

The on-board graphics are fine. However I wanted a DVI output so after trying the specific shuttle card, which was a nightmare, I just settled on an ATI 9000.....very nice results.
    It's a bit cramped though!

tbh the onboard gfx on a SN41G2 was perfect for playing CounterStrike and older generation games...

Its carp for the newer, MOH, BF1942, UT engine based games. Well it can run the games but they look pap.

I just bought a 9800 Pro for my shuttle

As an example of the difference...

    SN41G2, XP2700+, 1GB PC3700, 80gb IBM Deskstar using onboard GF4 440MX scored 196 in 3D mark 2003.

The same setup with the 9800 PRO scored 5669 !

Ok a review of the 9800 PRO I am using can be found here:

    http://www.game2xs.com/content.php?a...&contentid=518

The RAM spec for the card is:

Memory Type/Size: 128MB Samsung 2.8ns BGA DDR SDRAM
    Memory Clock: 340Mhz DDR (680Mhz)
    Memory Bandwidth: 21.8GB/s (256-bit)
    RAMDAC: Dual @ 400Mhz

This card is compared with the GF FX 5900 but so far I haven't seen one review where the 5900 beats the 9800 Pro !

Yeap got to say I am really impressed and really pleased that I moved to a shuttle.

The only thing that worries me is that buy putting in a GFX card you restrict the airflow through the case. As a result my idle temp has gone up by about 6oC to 50oC :s

    Thats not bad actually...

I have been trying to think of ways to increase the venting on the side of the case but everything I came up with meant rivets and pelix glass

I might have to think some more about meshing like that, cheers m8

hmm, do you think I could buy one of those case covers from somewhere ?

You might want to consider a Radeon 9200 or Radeon 9600 (but NOT Pro models). Advantage of these is that they are passive (no fan) which is always nice.

If you want a 9200 give me a shout as I just stuck a 9600 in my games rig and have a spare 9200 (TV out and DVI also)...

Sounds pretty good, what is the equivalent to the 9200? In geforce terms? And how much are you after for it mate?

    contact Shuttle.

As far as i know they only come on the SB52G2. So there will be limit supply.

Just to give ya an idea......The grill is the same stuff that is used on the CM201 front.
